go Serbia! some of the best value outsourcing I have had done has been from places like Serbia and Romania. UK and US freelancers I have worked with almost always seem to have a superiority complex and try to tell me what I should want!

I was intending to have the AJAX version of CommentLuv up already but I’ve had a whole bunch of commercial projects come in after Christmas so I need to devote my time to finishing them first. (ker-ching!) also, I manually added the bits for the AJAX functionality to my template and it’s a little different to put it into the plugin so it adds the javascript includes automatically in such a way so that it doesn’t conflict with other AJAX plugins that use things like prototype.js and jquery.

Hopefully it will be sooner rather than later!

Vladimir: the process for the AJAX part of commentluv starts when a keyup is deteced on the comment area, the script checks for the presence of a hidden attribute, if it is there then it will go off and search for the feed and at the same time remove the hidden attribute. This prevents it from firing every time a key is pressed. once it finds the feed it will put it in the div below the commentform. I haven’t noticed any CPU intensive periods when it does this as the javascript only fires once the first key has been pressed (or after the tab key is released if you’re tabbing into the comment area).

I use jquery to do the magic and that seems to work dandily for everything else without the cpu having a heart attack.

Jenn: there should be a single file called commentluv.php , that is the only file that you need to upload to your plugins directory. it should then show on your plugins page. I can’t make it any simpler!

jenn: I have emailed wordpress about it as there should only be 1 php file and 1 readme file inside. just upload the commentluv.php that you find in the /trunk/ folder and that should get it working.

opal: yes I saw similar things too, I think it’s a better deal for the buyer rather than the seller on GAF. There are many that will do work for next to nothing because they are new or inexperienced. as a buyer, I have to sort the wheat from the chaff. it’s not always the cheapest that is best.

about your feed: sometimes feedburner puts your feed as your normal location plus a few extra characters. In your case, your feed location of …com/blog/feed points to http://feeds.feedburner.com/veganmomma/khQh and CL has real problems getting forwarded to a feedburner URL like that so it used the last post it had in it’s cache.

I still haven’t figured out how to force the magpie rss function to follow that type of feedburner feed. it should do it automatically but for some reason it doesn’t

getafreelancer is definitely a buyers market. although, some of the good value work I have had done there has led to a lot more work going to the same person. If someone does something well for me for a comparatively low price, I always try and push more work their way even if I don’t need it done straight away so a) I feel better and b) they feel more worth.
I’ve seen evidence of some that do something for less to get established, once they have decent feedback and a good portfolio of successful jobs their ‘worth’ increases and can start to bid for higher paying jobs with more success.
a ‘one-off’ job that gets posted will predominately get a lot more cheaper bids, when someone has more experience of posting jobs and having the work done, they learn which people are worth paying that little bit extra for.

ref Feeds: I don’t think the extra characters on the end of the feedburner feed are permanent, they go back to normal after a while. I still can’t get their support to understand what I mean when I explain to them the problem.
