by golly I feel awful

I caught a cold last week and it’s just moved on to the coughy coughy stage which is killing me! I’ve got to work all through this phlegm (great word!) and try and portray a happy go lucky person who just so happens to sound like a stoned Darth Vader :-)

No matter though because I notice I have gone sub 90k on my Alexa rank, Technorati authority is up near 300 and there have been quite a few click-thru’s on my uVme ads so, not too bad considering…

Because of my extended man-cold (an extreme version of flu that only the male of the species gets), I haven’t been up to making any decent posts, even my drafts that I usually keep for such occasions have dried up (plenty of titles, no content though). It’s a shame because I have some super ideas for posts and for the life of me I cannae be bovvered at all, luckily I don’t charge an entrance fee for this blog because I’d have to start issuing refunds!

I’ll get some quality stuff up soon like how to make a countdown button with php (see the 125×125 button at the top), create some AJAX Stumblebait, update CommentLuv to use AJAX and generally lark about with words and stuff….

now where’s the Lemsip?….

Just remember Andy…technorati and Alexa are temporary, much like a cold…hehe:) I don’t check stats any more…techno links last 180 days and then they disappear. Thank goodness colds don’t last 180 days!!!!!

    pelf: thanks pelfy! me too

claire: the man cold is feared amongst all men!

Bobby: yes that’s true, Ineed a continuous stream of traffic for Alexa and links to myblog are only valid for a little while on Technorati (I think) so I need to keep generating traffic to keep them or make them better. I don’t really have a traffic strategy or special SEO things that I do so if I just carry on doing things that I enjoy then the rankings wont matter much as long as I’m blogging for the fun of it…

    thanks for visiting!

Real men, such as myself, consider the flu sniffles. There is no such thing as a man cold. You only go through a temporary period of being able to hork up some really good stuff that you and your buddies see who can hork the most or the longest distance.

Real man consider something like a compound fracture a cold. :P :P

OMG… Yes. About 80% of the people in our company had this bug. And yes… it does seem like the latter symptoms include a deepening of the voice, a.k.a Darth Vader.

It’s lasts 30-60 days. A real tough bugger. A lot of people have been able to kick it with frequent doses of Echinacea… it seemed to work for me for a while but eventually, I had I thought **ck it and went to a doctor… got some antibiotics and finally got rid of that awful bug. Errr, I hate taking antibiotics, but his bugger just wouldn’t die.

All in all, this flu business is quite scary. It seems like the bugs are getting tougher and tougher to kick. I for one have stocked up on antibiotics.

At any rate, I hope you’re feeling better!!!

    Kind regards,
    Martin

Martin: 30-60?? OMGWTF?? I thought it was gonna be a few days thing, luckily I must have conditioned my body to limit it to a week. I definitely feel better today that I have all week. still coughing though and I found a packet of 10 days worth of antibiotics so I’ll scoff that for a few days until they run out. self medication rarrr!

scott: I’ve not heard of that error happening before, I don’t use flash on here! thanks for visiting!

Hope you feel better soon! My husband tells me, man flu is harsh, I can’t imagine how horrible ‘extended man flu’ must be! (especially for your wife/family if you have one).

I desperately want to get CommentLuv to work on my site but I am having trouble … is there a FAQ for it some where?

Mommyknows: I see that you are using a version of wordpress that is less than 2.1
if you don’t want to upgrade just yet, I could make you a special version that should work if you like?

    Andy,

Wow … that was quick. I am afraid my host doesn’t have the updated version of mySQL so I am unable to upgrade.

If you’d make me a special version, WOW, I would be very grateful.

It is such a great product!!

mommyknows » it’s a shame the special version didn’t work for you, I think it was to do with you making a comment and using your own url, that usually causes a problem that shows an error. I’ll see if I can suppress the errors which should take care of that … I’ll play with it this weekend! (oo-er)

I’ve had the extended version of this man cold since the middle of November. But women, they still always have stuff to do or the world will not run without them. Pity me.

there is no extended when you are talking about man colds! they can’t be any worse, they are already the maximum times 10 cold.
if you still have stuff to do and you can actually do it, you don’t have a man cold!

As was mentioned earlier, tese bugs are getting worse! We can thank modern medicine for that, why? Because of antibiotics! Most people only take half of the prescibed amount and the bug n their system evolves and gets stronger, back in the good ole days, if you got really sick you just died and the bug went with you!…….hope you know I’m kidding!

Get well soon, I love the plugin!

haha! I agree with you, these are the only times in history that people who would have normally died off and took their diseases and genes with them are given a second chance to infect the rest of us!

I last had a ‘man cold’ a couple of years ago. That turned out to be Legionnaire’s disease … a particularly ugly strain of pneumonia. Usually fatal.

Since then, nothing more than a sniffle.

    Get gooder sooner!
