A Haiku, poem without rhyme, beautiful

Haiku Kanji Characters

I read a great poem over at AntiBarbies blog about a misguided internet lover boy, in the comments I saw someone had made a condensed version so I added my own version even more condensed as a Haiku, AntiBarbie made her own and someone added another one later.

They’re great fun, especially when people add their own in response to yours, someone responds to that one and so on.. It could be a good game to play. Here’s a bit of Haiku background..

A Haiku is a Japanese poem composed of three unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables.

I first found out about them in the book Shogun which my best friend Diego gave to me, it was an awesome book and it filled my days with wonderful daydreams and was the first book to make me really pissed off when a major character died. It had quite a few Haiku poems in it’s pages. Times when a warrior was about to die and there’d be just enough time to compose a death poem. How composing a Haiku in an extreme moment can give you a moment of Zen and so on.

They can be quite poignant and I like to make ones with 3,5 and 3 syllables. Diego has a talent for making poems and he has made a good Haiku or two so I thought we should have some Haiku poems here. They’re easy to make and great fun.

Here’s one from me..

Writing my own blog,
to wonder of the reader
did they understand?

in 3,5,3 format

Windy night
tomorrow the same
maybe more

They can even be funny, here’s a few from the internets
